Last Monday our community came together in solidarity to celebrate, support, rally, and march for change inspired by the principles of racial equality and nonviolent social change championed by Dr. King. Led by the Seattle MLK, Jr. Organizing Coalition, the Northwest African American Museum, the students at Seattle’s historic Garfield High School, and supported by countless others, Monday’s events brought an inspiring energy fueled by strength, unity, love, compassion, and acceptance for one another. It also reminded us as a community of the journey we all still take together and reaffirmed with each other our commitment to climb that mountain together.
Change is still needed as we face a magnitude of issues with human injustice and inequality, and our treatment towards the world we live in. We are all in this together (made up of the same AGCT bases) and need to show more compassion for each other and the world we inhabit.
There is no time like the present to turn your voice into action. To stop thinking as I and start thinking as We. To fight corporate greed and unregulated capitalism pushing people from their jobs, homes, and communities. To continue to and increase your involvement within your community and beyond celebrating and lifting up organizations supporting diversity, our world, and the beauty they hold.
